These Axial SCX24 trucks are big fun in 1:24 scale packages 😁
The Chevy C10 is now carrying a number of pretty great upgrades.
First up is the Furitek Lizard 20A/40A Brushed / Brushless ESC with FOC (Field Oriented Control) Technology, and the bluetooth module that goes with it and is used to configure / monitor the ESC from your mobile device.
The Lizard is an amazing bit of kit, very easy to connect even to the stock motor. The only caveat is that you have to configure it as a brushed motor setup via the bluetooth module, Furitek’s FuriCar app and a mobile device.
It was tempting to see how well the Lizard drove the stock 88T motor but I had a Hot Racing 66T High Torque Motor with 11 tooth gear waiting in the box, so that went in next. After the mounting plate was re-drilled to match the rotated hole arrangement on the HR motor.
The HR 66T motor, while much longer than stock, sits nicely within the frame, and the battery tray only really needed three legs anyway.
The mounting holes were in the wrong place to fit straight in so some careful drilling of the mounting plate was required.
Next up, a Hot Racing aluminium link set. While the battery tray, centre diff and radio receiver are off of the frame it’s much easier to install these parts.
While we’re installing metal parts, there are a few more strengthening options to go in; Yeah Racing aluminium steering link set, Samix aluminium differential covers, Yeah Racing stainless steel skid plate and front and rear diff protectors.
With those added, we can move on to some unsprung weight with the Yeah Racing brass steering knuckles and Xtra Speed brass wheel weights. Only half the wheel weights were used on the front of the C10 because the others are going on the Jeep.
And there we are. There’s an EMax servo waiting to go in but the aluminium servo servo tray I installed a while back is too small 🙄
So let’s talk about prices…
Edit: The itemised costs were removed because they probably went out of date almost as soon as they were captured, but the links remain so you can work things out for yourself.
