There aren’t very many upgrades on the Jeep yet. There are Samix aluminium diff covers and Yeah Racing diff protectors front and rear, a Yeah Racing skid plate in the middle, Yeah Racing brass knuckles up-front and, thanks to CineMoto’s recommendation on YouTube, a set of black RC4WD 1.0″ stamped steel stock beadlock rims and a set of RC4WD Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 1.0″ micro scale tyres without the foam inserts! The Yeah Racing parts came from RCMart and the rims and tyres from RCBitz.
Since the tyres aren’t vented, and the rims clamp down very tightly (but OMG why can’t they make those bolts just 1-2mm longer – they’re a real pain to install nicely), they retain air pressure internally so it’s effectively running on a set of pneumatics!
The difference this rim & tyre setup makes is huge. They’re very grippy and, because of the thin rubber formula and having no foams, they deform sufficiently to really increase contact surface area. And they look a bit more scale, too so extra bonus there.
It’s not completely without the need for some consideration though. I found the hex socket on the hubs didn’t play well with the brass wheel weights I had intended to run, and actually even required the SCX24’s stock plastic hub adaptors to be filed down a little so they’d fit in the wheel hub. Maybe that’s just a consequence of mixing products that don’t claim to be cross-compatible though.
